How to read beer carbohydrate information

Compare carbohydrates per 100 ml from manufacturer nutrition information without making diet or health claims.

Editorial context

General explanations are not medical advice. Product-specific facts should be checked against the linked manufacturer record and current package.

“Low carb” is a comparison category on this site, not a regulated medical recommendation and not a promise that a product is suitable for a particular diet.

Use the same serving basis

Manufacturer nutrition tables commonly state carbohydrates per 100 ml. To compare products fairly, keep the unit constant. For a different serving size, multiply the per-100-ml value by the serving volume divided by 100.

Do not confuse carbohydrates, sugar and calories

These are separate fields. A low sugar figure does not establish a low carbohydrate or low calorie figure. Alcohol also contributes energy, so calorie and carbohydrate sorting can produce different orders.

Check the evidence date

Recipes and product pages can change. The comparison tool displays the manufacturer source and verification date and withholds disputed values.
